Tratte dal repertorio classico persiano e costruite intorno a poemi di scrittori Sufi del millennio scorso, le melodie di Madman Of God sono state probabilmente da subito concepite come modello di perfetta spiritualità.
L'interpretazione della cantante Sussan Deyhim riesce se possibile ad amplificare ancora di più la loro spinta verso il trascendente; come in un labirinto di specchi i suoi melismi vocali si moltiplicano e riecheggiano arcani con la forza seduttiva davvero stordente.
Concepite per strumenti tradizionali, ma con l'approdo di due jazzisti come lo straordinario bassista Reggie Workman e il percussionista Glen Velez, queste canzoni sull'amore divino di generazioni passate riaccostano la cantante persiana alle sue stesse radici. E riportano intatta tutta la loro inebriante solennità originaria.
