Non è questa la prima collaborazione fra il maestro armeno del duduk (l'oboe in legno di albicocco o ciliegio) e il chitarrista avventuroso sempre più coinvolto nelle sperimentazioni ambient-trance della sua "infinite guitar". Senz'altro, però, questo è un piccolo capolavoro di musica letteralemente fuori dal tempo.
Le spire inifinitamente malinconiche del duduk e la voce nasale e palpitante del maestro trovano incanstri vertiginosi nel tappeto di note ribattute e arpeggiate da Brook, un arazzo policromo che tiene conto anche di morbide suggestioni trip-hop.
Registrato nelle Canarie (il titolo allude alla pietra vulcanica di Lanzarote) e remissato a Los Angeles, il lavoro resterà come esempio prezioso di quanto i paesaggi sonori contemporanei debbano al mistero di una musica remota e attualissima, se affidata a piccoli maestri del gusto.
